POLEDO

Volume. That's what Poledo is about. No, Volume and Mass. That's what Poledo is about. Those two principles that we learned about somewhere in the drug-hazed days of high school science classes. Not that you need to be familiar with such concepts to understand where the music of Poledo is coming from - that's because Poledo redefines those terms every time they pick up their instruments and play. And when they play, or more accurately - when they ROCK, the volume and mass of creative sound gets intertwined with dynamic elements of emotion, intensity, and power that destroys all constraints and stereotypes of 3-piece indie rock.

Forming in early 1994, Poledo quickly established themselves in the Toronto music scene. First recording and distributing a recording themselves in April of 94 (limited 100 cassette run), they soon acquired a reputation for being one of the most intense live bands in the city. The summer of 1994 saw them head into the studios and release a 7-song, independent cassette titled "Let Up". The tape quickly charted on various campus stations across Canada and opened doors to out-of-city shows and "Corporate Scum" showcases such as Canadian Music Week and the first edition of North by Northeast, cousin to the more famous yearly Austin conference.

After the success of "Let Up", Poledo found themselves on Sonic Unyon Records. Their debut Sonic Unyon CD "There, You" was released in December of 1995, and they headed across Canada this past summer to support it. 1996 also saw the release of the split 7" "Lunar Landing Confirmed" and a track on the Squirtgun Records compilation "More Of Our Stupid Noise". Each recording goes further in capturing the aura and intensity of Poledo's songs and musical spirit. Their recordings contain songs that beg to be heard loud and often, and they encourage listeners to experience the live, def shows of a band with much energy to expend - by means of sound, volume, and mass.
